"This model has only been available in Japan but both the Red Wing Amsterdam and Berlin stores were able to get their hands on a few pairs."
IIn the past I've had some troubles finding the right pair of Red Wing Boots. I never really felt completely content with models like the timeless 875 Moc Toe or the classic 3140 Work Chukka. I was looking for a model that was still simple yet functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The moment I stumbled upon the 2941 model, I knew I found what I was looking for. An elegant 8" working boot based on the original 1955's 708 model, a style which Red Wing Shoes halted a few years ago. This model has only been available in Japan but both the Red Wing Amsterdam and Berlin stores were able to get their hands on a few pairs.
Even though this pair– complete with speed hooks, has only been worn for a short 4 months, the oil-tanned dark chocolate leather is already aging beautifully. Combined with the sand-colored coffee cushion of the crepe wedge sole, this color and style marries well with chinos or jeans, whether it's a Tellason Ladbroke Grove or a completely worn out Levi's 511.
Most sizes are already sold out in Europe and unfortunately it won't be long until this shoe is no longer available and turns into somewhat of a collectors item. This is an amazingly sturdy and reliable boot that has exceeded my expectations. In short, it's my most essential pair of shoes.
