LAUNDROMAT
LAUNDROMAT is a new publication from the Snorri Brothers, documenting the dependable and unheralded laundromats of the five New York boroughs. Despite their recent dip in popularity due to the accessibility of washers and dryers within the home or apartment building, laundromats have long been an essential part of the social, cultural, economic and hygenic stories of the neighbourhoods which they inhabit. Not only are they critical, they're also clearly an interesting study in commercial storefront design, the aspect which this book takes on as its central theme. A number of interesting peeks into the more intimate lives of their owners, the traditions and trends each window or awning displays and the personality that aging has provided are all on show. The book should be hitting shelves in early March of 2013, and is available now to pre-order on amazon.
