Rudy's Barbershop
If you happen to find that you have a spare 10 minutes and 38 seconds somewhere in your day, check this out. I'm not aware of any other barber in North America who does barbering in a way like Rudy's, from their simple mission to their clever design and proper execution of service. Plus, they've been in business since 1993, so they know a thing or two about creating business longevity. Rudy's Barber Shop is as authentic of a barber experience as you can get. Sure, you'll always have your mom and pop shop barbershop from days of old, but this group of guys formed Rudy's out of wanting to create a sense of community, somewhere where people could both hang out and get a proper cut without all the fuss and fodder of a salon. Everything they do is well executed, from the simple and vintage inspired branding to the staff's placement of the pictures on the walls at Rudy's, to the individual layout of each shop. After having spent time in both Rudy's and at The Ace Hotel I can assure you– they truly continue to build something special.
"Our approach to business is... everything comes down to people. I think at the core of everything that we do it kind of starts and ends with the community."

loved Rudy's when I was living in Seattle, used to go to the Ballard location for $10 buzz cuts all the time.
Rudy's is a cool place - all of them. HOWEVER, when I moved to Seattle 6 years ago - I went to a Rudy's for a haircut. I asked them to go short (it was summer) about the length of a #2 but scissor cut. The 'barber' told me that not only did she not know how to do that but that they "don't do that here." Haven't been back since - I'll take my local shop that is equally as cool but they know how to use a scissor.
