Wool and winter are essential bedmates. Wool is hard to wear outside of cold winter months and it’s hard to survive through tumultuous and bastardly winter season without the sweet warmth of wool. The 24oz. wool blend Schott NYC Short Duffle in loden green calls for adultery in my marriage on my other duffle coat. Not only is the jacket extremely easy on the eyes, with the loden green wool, three front patch pockets, wooden toggles and natural hemp closures, but this is as about as authentic as you’re going to get with a military-issued coat.
Schott has established themselves as the outerwear kings. With a heavy motorcycle influence with the ever popular Perfecto, they were also one of the main contractors for World War II peacoats to the U.S. Navy. Naval officers’ lives depended on these coats when the temperatures dropped! It doesn’t get more authentic then that folks. One of my new favorite shops, Indigo & Cotton, has just received a gorgeous shipment of Schott NYC Short Duffles and this particular one is begging me to put her on and wear her ‘til there’s no tomorrow. Or until it warms up significantly.
