Short-Sleeve Patterned Popovers

Sometimes a polo shirt or button-down with rolled up sleeves just doesn’t cut it. Sure the weather might permit it but some of your other wardrobe choices might not. Your next best option? The short-sleeved popover of course. An amalgamation of the two choices with the cut of a polo and the fabric freedom of an OCBD made into one warm weather favorite that many of my favorite brands are tapping into this spring and summer.

I’m particularly fond of the patterned look to pair beautifully with shorts, light denim or chinos for the hot months ahead. Since these shirts are seen as a more casual sartorial choice in lightweight cotton fabrics, boisterous patterns like the Trojan batik from Gitman Vintage in overdyed oxford or even the woven cotton Sunny Sports will give you a pop of color. While the tonal white polka dotted look from Engineered Garments is a bit more subtle, it still gives you that casual fun look you should be going for. If you’re gonna go with it, you might as well go big right? Look at adding these quirky shirts to your wardrobe for an effervescent spring and summer.
